Red Oak

There was a small DZ on the property of "Bud" McLamb in the Red Oak area of NC, just a bit to the west of Rocky Mount. The grass strip was adjacent to Bud's business--Colt Furniture--which primarily made custom prototypes for the furniture manufacturing companies in the western part of the state. It was the site of a rare survival from a double malfunction. The skydiver, whose initials were "A.W.", was essentially uninjured. The DZ was in operation in the mid-1970s, and perhaps beyond that time.
