Kendall Gliderport

Home base of World Champion Aerobatic pilot Mary Gaffaney, the airport served as a training ground for gliders.

The field was intermittently used as a DZ and hosted a few Florida Parachute Council events.

Larry Hand: "I can remember in the late 70's being bored because of a low ceiling so we loaded up a old TV console and pushed it out over the drop zone at 1500 feet. That was as much fun as the bowling ball that came next."

Russ Manhold: "National Airlines Captain Dave Hoven and I negotiated with airstrip owner, Mary Gaffaney, to lease the property and add a large sand pit for accuracy landings. It was there we created and formed ESP, the Everglades Sport Parachutists skydiving club, in the early 1970's. Located west of Miami adjacent to Florida's Everglades, we had privacy and enough room for everyone."

Warren Kline: "I jumped there from 1971-76"
