East Carolina University students and members from the surrounding community maintained a club in the 1970s. The jump plane(s) would depart from Pitt-Greenville airport (PGV) and put out jumpers over a dairy farm to the east of the airport, owned by Mr. Roscoe Barnhill. Mr. Barnhill was an exceptionally nice fellow who just wanted to allow young people to enjoy the sport.
